Celebrating Saint Nicholas Day

Another annual tradition we like to celebrate at our house is Saint Nicholas Day. It's celebrated on December 6, but we celebrated it on December 5 since I knew Sunday morning would be a bit more relaxed than Monday morning would and my kids are still young enough that they wouldn't by any the wiser (although Joshua did get up today open the 6th door on the Advent calendar and said, "I thought yesterday was the 6th.") In preparation we read the story of Saint Nicholas, well at least I read it to Joshua who was paying attention. Again this year we did little gifts along with chocolate coins and a couple of real quarters in their shoes. Joshua was thrilled with his little Playmobil police officer and robber set and Matthew was happy to find his very own pillow pet (which I got an awesome deal on - 50% off). Joshua was also happy that Matthew got his own pillow pet as now they don't have to fight over his Joshua's. So much fun to see the kids reactions on the morning of Saint Nicholas Day!
